■System Configuration

|
■Features
■Recognition of P-wave (Patented)
When a quake is detected, the system immediately recognizes whether it is the P-wave (preliminary tremor) or not.
■The fastest P-wave warning in the world
When the detected earthquake motion is the P-wave, the system judges the degree of the risk, and gives a warning (P-wave warning) before the main shock. A warning is given in minimum 0.2 second (the fastest in the world) after the quake detection.
■Triggered alarm of the S-wave
When the quake exceeds the preset real-time intensity (Patented), a warning is given immediately. In the same way as a popular alarm seismometer, a warning is given also when the acceleration exceeds the preset level. The maximum value of the real-time seismic intensity is almost same as the instrumental seismic intensity of Japan Meteorological Agency. |
■Real-time seismic intensity (RI)*1
The real-time seismic intensity is calculated every 1/100 seconds, displaying the maximum value in real time up to that moment.
■Earthquake information
It is possible to display the countdown of time until a big quake.
(*1)The maximum value is close to Ijma, the instrumental seismic intensity of Japan Meteorological Agency. Ijma is only calculated after the earthquake termination, but the FREQL Light can calculate Real-time seismic intensity(RI) during an earthquake in real-time.

■An alarm is given in minimum 0.2 seconds after the detection of an earthquake
This earthquake early warning system is the fastest earthquake warning system in the world, giving a warning in minimum 0.2 second even in the epicentral area after the detection of an earthquake. This technique is noticed in world wide, and the investigation group of the nuclear power and the disaster prevention on the antiseismic technique from Taiwan, as well as a research team of Universität Karlsruhe in Germany, have visited System and Data Research Co., Ltd. recently.
System and Data Research Co., Ltd. (SDR), the developer of FREQL Light, commercialized UrEDAS and Compact UrEDAS, which are P-wave warning systems, in the 1990s earlier than any other company in the world. Compact UrEDAS gave warnings the earliest even in the epicentral area and devastation areas when the Miyagi-Oki Earthquake(Ijma 6+ of 7) occurred on May 26, 2003 and the Niigata-ken Chuetsu Earthquake (Ijma 7 of 7) occurred on October 23, 2004, fending off a catastrophe. It has been verified that the products of SDR can give necessary warnings even during severe earthquakes. Based on the experience of the development of the P-wave warning systems and the practical use for more than 30 years, UrEDAS and Compact UrEDAS were improved to give birth to FREQL, Fast Response Equipment against Quake Load, an ultra-compact new-generation early earthquake warning system. FREQL is a compact cube (approx. 15 cm x 15 cm x 15 cm) with a built-in sensor and a processor, giving warnings in minimum 0.2 second after the detection of the P-wave. Based on the countermeasures of both hardware and software, the system is noise proof against lightning and other external noise.
From its promptness and the portability of the earthquake early warning system, FREQL, the system is in practical use for the Hyper Rescue Team of the Tokyo Fire Department, as well as the Fire and Disaster Management College and the fire departments in nation wide. FREQL has been also used in the transportation facilities as Tokyo Metro, and started the operation for a nuclear power station and semiconductor factories on trial.

| ■ + (Plus) Silwatch |
 |
 |
 |
| Connect a silwatch to the alarm of FREQL, and warning will be given directly to every worker. |
 |
 |
 |
+ Silwatch can be connected to both new FREQL Light and conventional FREQL (terminal change necessary). |
 |
| ■Features |
* Ideal for emergency information transmission in the site of accident and disaster
* Various calls and information will be changed directly by the vibration, characters, light, and sound of the watch-type receiver and portable light receiver.
It can be used as an emergency contact communication equipment in the noisy site of disaster.
* The intensity of the radio wave is one-millionth the radio wave of mobile phones, not adversely affecting human bodies or medical equipment. |
